I would pick Vernon by close decision

Both of them were inconsistent, but I would favor Forrest just slightly. Forrest wasn't as good at 154 after moving up from welter. Back to back losses to Mayorga and a loss to Mora. Moore's best win was Benitez, but Benitez hurt his ankle in that fight and couldn't really move and got blasted out. Moore lost to lesser fighters IMO, with the exception of Duran, who many believe ruined him.

Forrest looked like he might go somewhere in AT legacy. He had Mosley's number. Then suddenly the mighty Mayorga rang his bell--twice. Whoops! Careful with premature judgements. Mayorga was not even first rate.

          - -Styles make fights as I'm sure even Leffy has heard of, but Mayorga was a genuine 3rd World bully and tapped into that soft civilized spot in Forrest for a double whammy effect.

In shorthand, it don't take 1st rate to beat 1st rate as history has shown us in the know.

          But will you ever know?

No, but Davey was from the Boogie Down, and if his career had went a little further a couple of 154 pounders would have been upset.
