Saying an ATG great heavy who was a supremely good puncher could not KO Toney is a bit overstated.

I pick Rocky to get a unanimous Decison over 15 rounds.

New England :- I agree mostly with what you say, but although I believe Holyfield at his prime was a good puncher he at the time he fought Toney lost much of his handspeed and his combinations were not the same. Holyfield was never a one punch KO artist. It i his combos that did the trick. I didn't see the Toney version of Holyfield as having the same punching stats as the 90's.

And Yea Rocky hit harder, considering the KO % and one punch power hits have to go with the Rock.

i'm not trying to discredit rocky's power, and you make some good points
holyfield certainly wasn't at his best on '03 (i think a prime holyfield would easily outwork toney)
he looked a bit blown up and obviously he had taken a lot of shots at that point

but at cruiserweight holyfield was a big puncher. he knocked everybody out in his title run at 190 after winning the title from qawi on the cards (when he was only a two year pro with very few fights ^^)

and rocky was, at best, a cruiserweight
and he fought more men below 200 lbs than above

not to say that it would ensure outright that holyfield's the harder puncher
it's just something to think about

i don't think either man would be a one punch type ****er in his prime against other prime ATG comp of the modern era (liston sized and beyond)

i think both guys would have to wear men down

I don't see marciano K.Oing toney, maybe drop him. Toney had a blend of a granite chin + ATG defense. Really hard to hurt that guy.

Yeh, it's really ridiculous to think prime Foreman, Tyson, or Lennox Lewis could possibly KO James Toney.

I mean, c'mon....Hasim Rahman, Sam Peter, and a completely shot Evander Holyfield couldn't, so what kind of moron thinks the three in the above sentence could, huh?

          Sam Peter hurt him...

I would give Joe Louis, Lewis, Rock, Foreman or even Dempsey a chance to hurt him and also KO him.

A shot Holyfield couldn't , I doubt that version of Holyfield or Peter is remotely even as good a puncher as the above mentioned.

I agree mostly...but when Rocky did fight guys about 200 pound he KO'd them. granted they were not ATG's except an old Joe Louis.

To reiterate Rocky has better KO% even considering Holyfield.s cruiser run and also Rocky has more one punch finishes.

Why is that guy hugging toney? Is he gay or something?

Marciano wins by decision or knockout. Toney really had never beat an opponent the caliber of Marciano while Marciano beat walcott who was better then Toney in my opinion.

Toney would have his spots like he always does but wouldn't do enough to win.

That guy is Randy Couture and he's choking a hapless James Toney into submission. Which given my general disdain for Toney, I find kinda amusing. That fight was in Boston, I was there. It was all pretty lame but watching James Toney embarrass himself and get his ass kicked, priceless. He didn't embarrass his sport he embarrassed himself and himself alone. Randy Couture is a classy warrior.

Nothing not to like about that guy.

LOL I have never even seen Toney even get hit cleanly with consecutive punches and that includes middleweight who are way faster than any heavyweight. So you are saying Toney is going to get knocked out by 1 punch when he has never even really been hurt before?
