At 168lb. Who do you like in this amazing matchup. Is Fitz's power to much or is Joe's speed the key?

Bob Fitzsimmons vs Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe is too fast and his combinations would trouble Fitzsimmons giving Calzaghe a UD. Although Fitz had great toughness and stamina so he'll be there right to the end. He sustains his power until the end of the fight so it's always a little worrying for Calzaghe.

Over the sprint, many modern fighters could be expected to do well, at least the elite 20 anyway. It all depends on what rules you go under.
People underrate Calzaghes power. Calzaghe had INSANE stamina and conditioning, so I could easily see him go for 15 rounds without problems.

Oh c'mon fellas. Go on youtube and see how often Joe was cold-****ed early and put down. Fitz would walk right through him and once he had him hurt--which he surely would--he'd end it. Fitz was also a top notch technician who could adopt to styles. Consider what he did to Jeffries--55 lbs bigger and ten years younger--when he was 41 (and 41 then is biostatistically 60 one hundred years later). Joe would be running for his life and those slapsie punches would not give Fitz ANY concern. Jim Corbett was only 30 and the exact same age as Fitz when they fought. He was an excellent boxer and 20lbs bigger (mid80s)and Fitz owned him.

I thought most thought Fitz came from behind to beat Corbett.
Down and bloodied he saved himself with the famous Fitzsimmon Shift.Ivich Slugfester like this.
