Eder Jofre vs Ruben Olivares at Bantamweight

Who wins this tasty 118lb matchup? 15 rds. for the title.

As good of a bantamweight match as you ever could imagine. Olivares was a little less consistent but fought better opposition. I was lucky enough to see him fight live several times. If forced to pick I'll take Jofre in a close one by cuts or UD.

i would go for Olivares by KO Jofre built his record beating cab drivers and road seepers in Rio. Olivares beat and fought the very best.

Cab drivers? So I guess Medel, Legra and Saldivar were also cabdrivers?

I would favor Olivares slightly in this. I consider Olivares better than Harada and their styles were somewhat comparable. If Olivares can close the distance and force the fight at close range, there is no doubt Jofre would feel his power, especially to the body. I also think Olivares' uppercut could have success.

on the other hand, its no easy job to walk in on Jofre, and Olivares could be hit and cut. so Jofre by TKO cut stoppage is definitely an option.

Thinking Olivares here, but I do rate him as the greatest Mexican ever, & several here feel that is unwarranted. Jofre would run him close, but I really have the utmost respect for Olivares as a boxer & I think he'd be Jofre's greatest challenge.

And personally feel that is a very reasonable statment.

This is a great match-up that I struggle to chose a winner.

But I'm going to lean on Jofre.

Jofre is the consensus GOAT at Bantamweight amongst boxing historians. Olivares was very good fighter but not in Jofre's class I'm afraid. Jofre's a clear winner here. About the only Bantam I'd give a legitimate shot at beating Jofre is Jeff Chandler and even that's a stretch.

Based on the fact that Jofre is the concensus GOAT at Bantamweight and Olivares isn't in that class. The collective wisdom of boxing historians >>>>>>>>> Quarry.
