I think he is good, really good actually.I have been a little critical of him in the past but i am sold of him now,he doesnt have the greatest defence but he always has his hands low so that is too be expected,i like his style though,i find it refreshing and he seems very relaxed and genuinely looks like he is enjoying what he is doing,he is finally getting the recognitition he deserves and you can tell he appreciates that,he is exciting in a way that other fighters arent nowadays, even with the great manny pacquioa it seems he is just going through the motions in his recent fights,Martinez is a welcome change

As for becoming an ATG middleweight,i cant see it,he doesnt have the competition and for a guy that uses so much movement it will be difficult too maintain his ability as he has entered the elite scene so late, still i think he will take on all comers and will most likely beat them in entertaining fights,i for one will be looking forward too his next outing very much

He's not an ATG fighter and with 3 fights at MW he's obviously not an ATG Middleweight.

He could be but at 36 I doubt it.

he's one of boxing's best late bloomers that i can remember

if he began in the amateurs as a boy and competed internationally in his teens there's no telling how good he might be with his extra experience

all that being said, he didnt really become a power puncher until he matured and moved up to MW
or at least he didnt fight that way

so we cant tell if his boxing talents were late to bloom as well

for a vulnerable fighter with flaws and a relative lack of experience at the top he finds a way to win
and these days to drop that left hand on some dudes chin

        he's freakishly athletic
and he's stringing some good wins together late in his career

but that alone does not an ATG resume make

        he's like glen johnson
without the doubt digit losses, or many of the big wins johnson has racked up
only with a surplus of talent that's put him on the p4p board

        and finally
i'd pick him to lose to greb
        hopkins
        monzon
        hagler
        robinson

all via knockout, in their respective primes.

The guy is for real, he can fight. And boy is he quick. I think he's beatable but that makes his fights more entertaining. There are potential fights with Pirog, Cotto, Pac, Mayweather and ***** who knows Bute, Ward, Froch those type of guys too so there is definately room for him ,if everything falls into place and goes well, to make a serious run at an ATG list.

I dont feel he's overly special tho myself just very very good!

Because of his age, he would have to either stick around far past when most boxers do or get a LOT done in the next two or three years, and even then he probably couldn't make an ATG list. He is very good, but you do have to put his opponents in perspective. Good enough to beat probably all the middleweights, and definitely beat anyone at 154.

He fights like a poor man's Roy Jones to me.

Theres a bit of truth to that bojangles.

Worth noting tho that a poor mans Roy Jones can still be a VERY Good fighter

Absolutely. When Roy Jones is one of the greatest ever to do it, a poor man's RJ will still be a damn good fighter, and Sergio is. Honestly, unless there's someone I'm completely overlooking Sergio is the first fighter I've seen fight like Jones and pull it off.
