How does Bob Fitzsimmons fare in the modern era?

    -Middleweight Champ (1891-1893)
    -Light Heavyweight Champ (1903-1905)
    -Heavyweight Champ (1897-1899)

Never weighed more than 175 lbs and averaged around 167 for his career.
What weight classes could he tackle today and how does he rank in each?

Rudy Rob was a killer at every weight class he fought at, and with that solar plexus punch as lot of light heavy and cruiserweights are going down. The early weigh in days are a huge boon to him.

I think he can be a champ at whatever weight class he chooses, with HW being more difficult that the others.

The rules were a lot different then making comparisons all that much the harder. He will foul a lot and will need a lot of training to get used to the new rules. Still I think that he will have no problem gaining a belt at LHW. Whether he unifies and dominates the division will depend on how comfortable he is with the new rules. (Meaning he can't give away 3-4 points a fight and be on the verge of disqualification and still beat top fighters on points)

Bob was basically a heavyweight trapped in a Middleweights body. In his prime he knocked out 200+ lb men just as easily as a Jim Jeffries did.

I think he would be an absolute terror at 168. Thats his natural walk around size and he'd be hitting those guys with power never seen before in that division. I wouldnt totally discount him at heavyweight either... he may be slim but is actually taller with a longer reach than Mike Tyson.

Bob Fitzsimmons is the only fighter Id give a decent shot to beat Calzaghe.

Lennox may be too big for Fitzsimmons, but has a punchers chance.

                Lennox murks Fitzsimmons.

If Fitzsimmons didn't adapt his style to suit the modern era, lets just say badly?

It's noticeable from that photo that Fitzsimmons had a very distinctive physique. I don't think I've ever seen a fighter who was more arms and legs. It would be like fighting a giant octopus and it's pretty obvious he carried enormous power.
