I always liked Carbajal, he was such a tough kid. What a great way for him to go out. Be nice if more champions exited that way instead of overstating their abilities.

Actually I think he was quite skilled, not just a one-dimensional puncher.

He could (as demonstrated by Gonzalez in the rematches), but I don't think the likes of Arce would last half the rounds with him in his prime.

This is quite true. He was also very strong for his weight. After the olympics and through his first few years as a pro, he focused on his skills but in the later stages of his career, he realized how strong he was and relied less on his boxing ability. By the time he fought Arce he was quite a bit past his prime however. Amazing he pulled it out.
