Cotto gave Pacquiao the opening and Pacquiao punished him putting him on the deck.. Cotto then closed-up and ran for the next 6rds, Clottey never once opened-up and gave Pacquiao the opportunity to KO him yet both fighters went into the fight disrespectful of Pacquiao's punching power yet came out of the fight and claimed he was the hardest puncher they had been in with. Margarito took a frightful beating from Pacquiao and the damage he received was quite shocking considering Pacquiao set off in this sport as "A Garden gnome = 105lb" .... Martinez was unable to inflict that kind of beating or damage on Margarito so it is fare to say Pacquiao is a tremendous puncher..
It's also fair to say that Martinez was green at the time he fought Margarito and Margarito was prime and in the best fight shape of his career. Far from the punching bag he was when he fought Pacquiao, after a lengthy suspension and looking bad in his comeback fight.

Edit: The fights with Clottey and Margarito were terrible fights. Those are fights I could never go back and watch. I didn't even watch Margarito live, I watched it a few days later. I said Pacquiao would win every round and that's what happened. I predicted a late round stoppage but the ref let it continue when he shouldn't have.

Fights should not be that predictable. If they are, they shouldn't be fighting each other.

I have not seen him score that many ko's. He has 1 ko in his last 4 fights I have only seen him fight 5 times in total. These other guys he koed I don't really know how good a chin they had or how good they were. Sergio does not knock out fighters that often though.

And the one punch KO against Paul Williams may have just been "one fight" but it was "Paul Williams." Paul Williams was a top 3 p4p guy and Martinez knocked him out cold, something nobody has ever done, and Paul is still in his prime.

It was a great ko punch, He could not have thrown a better punch. Williams head was moving fast into the punch and he did not see it.

I don't think Williams chin was as tough as some people thought. Taking punches from Quintana and Wright does not prove that much. I don't remember Margarito really hitting him with a good punch to the chin either. And Cintron buckled his legs with one right hand in an unfinshed fight[/COLOR]

Pacquiao even at lower weights wasn't knocking anybody out while they were prime and at the top of their game. Oscar and Hatton were both flunks and bums. Cotto was a good win but I don't think he is all that good and he has been brutally KO'd before. That stoppage came after a long fight and Cotto was winded yet made it to the 11th or 12th round, without going down.

Paquiao has not stopped the last two guys he has fought but they have good chins. Mosely knocked out Margaritio but it took many punches..

I might change my mind one day but Sergio still has to prove more to me before I think he hits harder then Pacquiao.

Carlos most of what you say i agree with yet as i said earlier it has to be remembered that Pacquiao set off in the sport as a garden gnome of 105lbs and Margarito entered the ring against him weighing 175lbs & just under 6ft tall... Margarito also applied the pressure and got his licks-in which Pacquiao took on the chin without wobbling or going down. That surprised me as well as impressed me tremendously.. He stood and exchanged with Margarito several times and fought his way out of trouble, he hurt Margo with a body punch in round 4 which shows he must have very good punching power.... His fight with Clottey again surprised me because i never thought him capable of putting 5, 6 or 7 punch salvo's together like he did, it would have been a far better fight if Clottey was willing to fight instead of just covering-up like a turtle yet that was not Pacquiao's fault it was Clottey's and i feel if those salvo's had not been coming at him all night long then he would not have fought out of his shell..... Pacquiao is obviously not every boxing fans "cup-of-tea" as NSB forum well proves that yet the guy is in his prime right now and i for one will be fascinated to watch how his career unfolds over the next couple of years, i fancy Mayweather to beat him yet i don't see that fight happening, i think he will destroy old Mosley then after that it will get interesting to see if he can win a title at 160lbs which maybe a step to far..... Sergio Martinez i am unsure of as i watched his first fight with Paul Williams the night before their rematch and thought he carried no power in his left hand as he hit Williams all night long with it in their first fight and never budged him yet he poleaxed Williams with it in their 2nd fight to prove me completely wrong so i am looking forward to watching him again to make my judgment but i am not going by that 2nd fight with Williams, i will wait to after his next fight as i am sure several fighters are also doing including Pacquiao... Martinez needs to look very good indeed in his next fight otherwise i see Margarito (if he beats Cotto) moving up and fighting a return fight with him.

I believe Margarito came in 15 pounds over the catchweight of 150, putting him at about 165-167.

Pacquiao did start his career very small but if i recall correctly he was only 15 and was not yet matured. He probably didn't have hair under his arms as he was fighting at 4'11 and 105 pounds, but since maturing and setting in at his 5'6-5'7 height he has fought at 130-135, and entered the ring at 140-148. The fact that he started so small is null to me because that was only possible because he started in the Philippines where he was able to turn pro at a very young age. The real fact is that everybody he has faced since becoming a star, he has outweighed all his big name opponents in their fights, by sometimes significant amounts. Now he is fighting guys who outweigh him but they are guys who can no longer pull the trigger, have been inactive and at the tail end of their careers, and are guys who even at their best are not on the same level when it comes to speed and stamina.

I do like Manny but 2010 was a huge letdown for me and for many of his fans, as the fights he took were one sided and the guys he took on had no legitimate chance at beating him. They weren't competitive at any point, from the day the contract was signed til the final bell. There are better fighters out there yet Manny will not fight any of them citing "they're not a draw" or "there is no money to be made with that guy" which to me are bogus excuses and are his way of ducking better fighters.

Now he has agreed to fight Shane Mosley which I am excited to see as I have wanted this fight for 2 years. Mosley will not be a walk in the park as he is not a human punching bag like Clottey and Margarito and even today I think he is still a much better fighter than Cotto ever was. Shane has a good chance at knocking Pacquiao out.

I also am picking Floyd to beat Manny. I am not saying all the top contenders would beat Manny, he's a great fighter and I'd pick him to beat most of the guys I want to see him fight, but at the same time he still has to fight them to prove it. No more fighting punching bags.

Cotto, Clottey & Margarito all said Pacquiao is the hardest puncher they have ever faced as well as the greatest boxer they have ever been in with, add to that the fact that Pacquiao has improved with every performance under Freddie Roach then i simply cannot see were your comments are coming from.. Pacquiao is still improving and would be a huge favorite to beat Martinez should they ever meet.

Margarito is one tough hombre and i would take him to defeat Martinez if they ever fought a rematch. Margarito got plenty of his punches home against Pacquiao and i dont feel Martinez is anywhere near as tough as Pacquiao so would fold again under Margarito's onslaught.

When and where did Margarito say this?

I could not disagree more. Say what you will about Mosley being game for Pacquiao. It could happen and he's got a less...frustrating style and maybe Shane can keep his game up for longer than he could against Floyd. And if he catches Pac like he did Floyd, it's good night. Shane can really ****. But to say that he's better now than Cotto ever was is silly. Cotto straight up out-manned Shane two and a half years ago, when he was much closer to his prime than he is now. Cotto might be pretty shot now, but he give him a little credit.
