It's funny about Marquez. He started his career out being thought of as a pure aggressive power puncher and he was, but with great skill. Then after the Norwood fight people started to suddenly call nothing more than a boxer/counter puncher. Now, he's back to what he's always been; a highly skilled boxer/puncher with excellent power.

He's always had great power and for most people that know about him, he's not underrated but I guess that's what makes him underrated isn't it? Not a lot of people know that he was always considered a power puncher.

Same with Floyd but Marquez has much better power than Floyd. Both considered power punchers early on, then later boxers, with Floyd even considered pure power puncher slightly lacking in defense!

Of course Marquez has gone back to what he started as, that being a great boxer/puncher.

As they are far more cerebral than brawlers, but look at the guys already listed, and I agree with all, such as, Floyd, Ali, Leonard, Johnson, and Whitaker. I also think Floyd Patterson fits into this category. He had great power, and many forget he knocked down Quarry, and I may be wrong but I think he was the first to do so. Eder Jofre had solid power aswell, from the footage I've seen of him. Can't forget Bernard Hopkins at 160.

As for overrated, I'd go with Pavlik, Valero as well. I love Frazier, as he had solid power, but I've seen people say he had one punch KO power, but he had accumulative power, more than one punch power.
Floyd Patterson is an excellent shout. With such blazing speed, his power is routinely overlooked, but he could hit with surprising clout.

People said that Floyd was lacking defense? Compared to who, Spider-man?
