Very Good definitely a Top 25 ATG P4P, I have him at 20 personally. Winning titles in 3 divisions, beating great fighters in McLarlin, Chocolate,A Ambers and held 2 titles simultaneously. That warrants at least Top 25 in my opinion.
Unquestionably one of the best ever. He wasn't unbeatable, partly due to inconsistency that hindered him throughout his career, but when he was on he was on. Successfully competed from bantamweight up to lightweight and even against welterweights, reminiscent of the recent feats of Manny Pacquiao.
A young prodigy, Canzoneri was already on the downslide by his late 20's and never regained the form after paying a heavy price in beating Jimmy McLarnin. McLarnin returned the favour by giving the smaller Canzoneri an awful beating, though not without Canzoneri having already shown signs of sliding against Lou Ambers whom he had handled easily a year prior.
Love Canzoneri, wish there were more film of his fights.Great for sure I'd have to say a 8 and a half out of ten A.T.G. status. Tony would smash just about any of today's guys, too much experience.
