    Ken Norton vs Floyd Patterson

Who wins this? Fifteen rounds for da title

Very tough fight to pick. To me the key is if Patterson could hurt Norton. I'm already convinced that Norton could hurt him. If you couldn't back Norton up with your power, he was difficult to beat. Norton by a close decision, but it's not something that I would bet on.

Fast forward to the 1:25 mark: Oh yeah, Patterson could hurt Norton alright.

Yeah, not really a matchup where Norton's unique qualities (ie. poison to slick boxers) comes into play. Patterson wasn't a slick boxer per se: He was a boxer-puncher who could slug it out if the situation called for it.

I think Norton would out box him if Patterson didn't punch so effectively. Norton would need more body weight or a much better chin to endure Floyd.

That's the thing though: Fast hands and above average power. I doubt Floyd would come to box Norton, he'd come to fight him; and Norton was VERY vulnerable to opponents who came to fight.....It was the bad side of the coin to his fighting style: Yes, it defused slick boxers, but it also left him wide open to opponents who came right at him.

I still think Jimmy Young beat him and that Ali (especially an aging Ali) isn't as slick as people think he is. Jimmy Young with Ali's athletic ability might be the slickest fighter of all time.

Patterson stops him. If not for Floyd's power then norton would stand a decent chance.

Norton definitely dropped the early rounds to norton, and that coated him the fight IMO. Young always seemed to get robbed

I have to go with Floyd, although if they fought three times, it might very well come out like Ingo/Patterson where Norton takes one by knockout. Floyd's not jab-reliant, although I think some of you are selling him short on technical prowess. His hooking nature ends up busting Norton's ribs and dropping his hands enough to take plenty of damage. Floyd could outpoint him too, no doubt in my mind, prime for prime.
