No doubt that Mugabi could really hit, but his win resume is just piss poor. His blowout losses to Norris and McClellan showed that he clearly wasn't a top level fighter.

Very true. After the Hagler fight he showed very little punch resistance and there are no big wins on his resume.

Not true. Mugabe pre Hagler was a very dangerous fighter but was ruined and never the same after Hagler. He was no hype job it took a Hagler to break him. He would have handled all the other great fighters at that weight but not Hagler.

            Mugabe musn't be slagged..

He came through blasting journeymen into orbit, and for a while was the enigma for power seekers. A loose cannon from an uneducated background, he realized his potential & was good enough to win a world title at 154.. He had terrific wars with James 'Hard Rock' Green & Marvin Hagler and i never saw him in a dull fight.

He was over hyped, but that was simply because of his one shot KO power..
I liken him a bit to Edison Miranda, an exciting puncher and whoever said that he ****** has to be talking bollocks.

Edison Miranda is a very valid comparison.

Why do you persist with such rubbish?

Edison Miranda is indeed a great comparison. As to the thread starters point, I don't think you could ever call Mugabi a little known killer. In fact, for the little he achieved, he is still very well known and highly thought of. Too highly in fact. He is a still a popular figure today and was a very visible figure at the time known for his tough fights, knock outs and back and forth wars.

A very vulnerable fighter but at his best, seen in the Hagler fight, he was a tough cookie to crack and had some good, underrated skills. His counter punching, and counter right in particular were actually very good. He really went to **** after the Hagler fight though and was never able to take a clean punch very well after that. It was a brutal fight for him and he took a lot of punishment in it over the long haul.

Anyway, as I said I don't think he was ever little known.
