Better resume of wins? I'd say Tyson.

Must be 40 bums no one ever heard of.

That said, the answer is still Jack Dempsey. Though he can thank good matchmaking, a gift against Jack Sharkey, and Tyson going to prison.

        At least Tyson fought regularly.

So did Dempsey from 1914 to 1921 + 1923 & 1927. 2 times a year is enough when the world title is on the line.

Who exactly did Dempsey beat again? his best win against Sharkey was questionable at best, due to the circumstances(low blow + hit on the break combo).

Dempsey defended his title 5 times in 7 years. I can't quite figure out how that comes out to twice a year.

He only fought at least twice a year in the span I mentioned. It included 1920 and 1923, his first and fourth years as champion.

Careers do extend outside of the championship years. So the man went Hollywood...he had already maximized his potential by then.

Fred Fulton, Jack Sharkey, Willie Meehan, Battling Levinsky, Billy Miske (x2), Georges Carpentier, Tommy Gibbons, Luis Angel Firpo

Those are the top 8 guys. I'll take them over Tyson's top 8 any day. And I'll take Fred Fulton over anyone Tyson beat period.

I was referring to their title reigns, and Dempsey's doesn't match up to Tyson's. Before that he fought so he could eat. Dempsey apologists are always excusing his inactivity, but he was hardly a fighting champion.

Thread starter didn't say anything about when they were Champion....
