I honestly thought Hearns won it pretty decisively, I can't remember how I scored it but I think I had Hearns winning 7 - 5 then there was the knockdowns as well. Luckily Hearns was a great guy and just took the decision on the chin and did not even complain, one of the reasons he is a favourite fighter of mine. After the Hagler fight he told Steward not to say anythign about the break of his right hand as it might take away from Hagler's win.

I scored it a draw, both were faded but both had good moments.

I felt that it was an evenly matched affair save for the two knockdowns (the first of which shouldn't have been called! Watch the slow motion.....no punch lands).....and also rounds 5 and 12 which were landslide Leonard (he may well have received 10/8 rounds from several of the judges here).

It was a good fight by two legends, I didn't feel that either deserved it!!

can a round be scored 10/8 without a knock down?

            Yes.

I seem to remember the interviewer even indicating that might be the case after the fight when he spoke to Ray. I have the US broadcast, with colour commentary from Marvin Hagler.

Yes. Give a fighter a bad beating in a round but he stays upright, under the rules for the 10 point must system it should be scored a 10-8 round.

I'm a huge fan of both.

Dont worry, my user name doesn't mean that I'm automatically biased towards any boxer with 'Sugar' in their name! Ha ha

And to be fair, Leonard more than punished Hearns in rounds 5 and 12. In terms of full blooded shots I think this work more than made up for even the excellent second knockdown of Leonard (which was admittedly very impressive).

Hearns by quite some margine. Can't remember by how much, but I know it was a good couple of rounds.

How you can only credit Hearns with winning 4 rounds is madness.
