    Spinks-Langford

There is no debate as to who the greater p4p fighter was here, but who should rank higher at 175? I lean towards Spinks based on accomplishments and resume at this weight, but should we be able to take into consideration how Langford did at both below and above this weight?

I'd also like to hear opinions on a h2h fight. We all know Langford was very capable of knocking out larger men, but how would he do against Spinks big right, herky jerky style and proven chin at 175. Against the best fighter 175 had to offer Spinks was only down once against Qawi, and that is debatable. Spinks would be sporting an advantage in reach and huge advantage in height.

I think popular opinion will be a Langford ko, but I'd like to hear opinions.

Langford KO's Spinks. Spinks had great chin at Light Heavy but Langford regularly knocked out heavies weighing over 200 pounds and knocked them out cold.Jeanette had a great chin, was stopped only once and by Sam. I pick him to stop Spinks. And Sam had the experience to adapt to any fighter quicker IMO...Spinks will trouble Sam initially till he feels him out.

Career wise Langford never held a title. Spinks did...and although Sam weighed in close to 175 he fought heavies in those cases. So I can understand your points on achievements.

    But h2h Sam beats Spinks.

Great post as usual. Out of curiosity though, where do you rank Sam at 175, and why?

Before giving you an answer I would like to state that my policy of ranking any fighter depends on 75% acheivements,25% head to head. Sam at 175 primarily fought heavies and concerntrated on that division.Lower he fought middle, welter even lightweight.

H2H I can't think of few lightheavy except Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore(who proved that they can hang in with huge ****ers at heavy, though there are some others I can think off too like Billy Conn), will have a chance against Sam. You needed a very good heavy weight chin to survive Sam, and then too there was no guarentee he won't clean you up. Not just a good lightheavy chin

I don't rank Sam at lightheavy because of his lower achievments at that weight, but H2H I have him very high.

I do rank Sam as the #1 P4P.
