    Thoughts on Kostya Tszyu?

What are your thoughts on him as a fighter?

A good, solid champion that ruled over a very weak division that failed to pursue meaningful fights that would have defined his career. His fans with claim that De La Hoya and Mosley avoided him, although common sense shows us that the two were too busy competing and winning titles in a legitimate division, against better opposition,to care about some guy who failed to avenge his sole loss to the man who knocked him out.

He actually looked like an exceptional talent as an amateur,a far cry from the one-dimensional,upright stalker that relied on a solid chin and heavy hands to get him through fights.Johnny Lewis had a way of really stripping down fighters and making them worse rather than improving them.

He was a great fighter and it took a great fighter to beat him in ricky hatton.hatton would have been a handful for any light welterweight/welterweight that night.

I'm a huge fan of Kosta Tszyu. Still can't believe he lost to Vince Phillips

1st thought. I nearly **** myself when I first saw him knock Judah the **** out. I heard they fought and thought Judah had to have won and then it got nasty. ha

He was a really good fighter, great power, good handspeed, decent chin. He ran into a vince phillips that was really not willing to lay down and Tszyu just got kinda tired and got ko'd. Against Hatton it was a combination of Hatton having a lot of energy and being busy but also some hometown ref that affected the way the fight played out. Hatton was allowed to hit and then hold and hit without the ref properly breaking the fighters. Hatton came in with his head alot so Tszyu had to dodge so he wouldnt get butted and by then Hatton would have his head in his chest , throw a couple punches and hold and then push off. But Tszyu quit and that is his own fault. Tszyu should have rematched Hatton in the US and we would see how they matched up in a fair boxing match. I think Tszyu had every right to complain about the ref but he didnt. That was a really ugly fight. Like the other guy said, Tszyu did have a very one demensional style. His range finder left was lame, he should have developed a real jab, it would have helped him in his career along with some head movement.
