      Davey Moore after Roberto Duran.
      David Reid after Felix Trinidad.

I draw parallels to Julio Cesar Chavez-Meldrick Taylor 1 and Felix Trinidad-Fernando Vargas. Both Vargas and Taylor were highly touted amateurs who faced harder punching, long-reigning champions with much more experience than them. Both suffered 12th round stoppage defeats. Both of them had some success afterwards and won titles, but neither was 100% of what they had been, and the cumulative punishment they took in their careers was just too much. Taylor beating Aaron Davis after the Chavez fight was a better win than Vargas had after losing to Trinidad.

I don't think Trinidad ever mentally recovered from the loss to Bernard Hopkins.

I remember the ending being like a scene from ER.. Sanchez had been a very promising fighter up until then.. He had beaten PbF in the amateurs and KO'd Jorge Paez as a pro b4 facing Hamed.. Hard to believe what he looked like against Manuel Calvo just 2 fights later. I believe 'Hamed after Barrera' has already been quoted as an example on this topic.

Joe frazier was never the same fighter after reading reports that his managment had signed him into a fight with a puncher.

I believe he was the same fighter. Roach claims that the fight with Floyd took a lot out of him but I think it had more to do with the level of competition he went up against. Hatton, had he not fought Floyd, would have still been destroyed by Pacquiao at any point in his career.

He fought a bunch of weak Euro opposition and when he stepped up to the big leagues he was exposed.

What are you talking about, man? He beat plenty of good competition.

Tszyu, Castillo, Malignaggi and Urango were all top fighters.

What I'm talking about is Kostya is the best victory of his career, and Tszyu was at the end of his career - years past his best and he showed his age. I may not be correct but I believe this was Kostya's last fight ever, and you can not honestly say that Hatton would have still won had the fight been years earlier - Kostya is far far greater than Hatton.

Malignaggi is a joke and shouldn't never be mentioned when trying to boast another guys record.

I am absolutely surprised that no-one has mentioned Tyson-Douglas fight. I know that a lot of personal things happened to Mr. Tyson after that fight, but he never looked the same after that night in Tokyo.

Physically, he was there, but the hunger and fire was gone, and mentally, he was never the same fighter. I still think that he is one of the GOAT Heavyweights to ever lace up gloves.

                    Everyone have a great day.

Yeah, that was Tszyu's last fight. I agree that he would've probably won if the fight took place a few years earlier, but he was still the man at 140 and Hatton beat him.

Malignaggi was considered very good, back then. He had only one loss (to Cotto) and had just been a titleholder before he vacated it to fight Hatton.
