Evander Holyfield Disscussions Thread (PLZ Post)

Lets have a discussion about this great warrior......talk about anything regarding evander

    #2
Holyfield combined courage, determination and tenacity, with his well schooled boxing skills. He had speed, power, and conditioning. All this enabled him to excel in a era of huge heavyweights. Ken Norton a strong Heavyweight himself once said that he was no were near as strong as Holyfield. The Real Deal could dish it out and take it.

His bread and butter puncher was his heavy left hook, which he threw perfectly. Although other attributes helped him more than his power. Do he hit hard enough to stop or drop Durable Heavyweights like Mike Tyson, Rid**** Bowe and Ray Mercer.

At times do Holyfield seemed to defy logic because he was the first man to knock down Bowe and Mercer down but hit some lesser fighters with everything he had but the kitchen sink and never came close to stopping them.

He is considered the greatest Cruiserweight of all time. He unifed the division within 17 fights. In his Cruiserweight run, he defeated the likes of Dwight Qawi x2, and Carlos De Leon.

He twice held the Linear Heavyweight Title and has faced every conceivable style. Holyfield unified the WBC, WBA & IBF cruiserweight titles, won the WBC, WBA & IBF titles from Douglas, regained the WBA & IBF titles against Bowe (II), WBA title against Tyson, IBF title against Moorer, vacant WBA title against John Ruiz. He is the only ever four time Heavyweight champion of the world.

At 46 years of age, he was robbed out of the WBA Heavyweight title against Nikolay Valuev in Switzerland. Which would of made him the oldest Heavyweight Champion in Boxing History.

    Holyfield's Amature Accomplishments
-1983 Pan American Games Silver Medalist (178 lbs)
-1984 National Golden Gloves Champion (178 lbs)
-1984 Olympic Bronze Medalist (178 lbs)

All them gold boys in the olympics, and most eyes are focused on a young fighter that was blowing out his opponents. In the Bronze medal round he was having his way with Kevin Barry and the referee disqualified him. Thats when I first started watching Evander. He blew through the cruiserweight division like a hurricane, giving us some great moments. Even his rise to heavyweight was exciting as his bouts with Dokes and his trilology with Bowe was one for the recordbooks.

16 years later I didn't want him to continue, I was against him getting a title shot against Valuev because I thought he was risking his health. He turned back time and out outboxed the giant.

A true warrior with a heart bigger than Alaska.

Holyfield was a great cruiserweight but as a heavyweight he was one of the dirtiest fighters i have ever seen....he should've been disqualified in his second fight with tyson....he struggled to beat an Old George Foreman....as a heavyweight Holyfield is too damn overrated...he's not even in my top 20
