Yes indeed. Now that would be a great debate and a very difficult one to decide on. Jones doesn't really compare to Moore when it comes down to it.

Fought in a different era? Been born earlier? You know, something like that. Also, not getting knocked out by Tarver and Johnson and beaten by Calzonie. Not that it counts much anymore. The best fighters he fought at the weight all beat him sadly, whether or not he was past it, it remains one of those questions "If they knocked him out or dominated him via decision then, how different would it have been a few years earlier?"

In all reality though, his reign at LHW was really pretty shocking. Apart from Griffin and I guess the first Tarver fight the rest were all terrible fights for someone of his stature and his ilk and simply didn't deserve to even be in the ring with him. The usual one is he could have made sure he beat every single title holder.

Really though, it comes down to when he fought. There was just no one good enough for him to establish himself as a true great at the weight.

Even the guys like Julio Cesar Gonzalez were absolute nobodies when he fought them and had not beaten anyone or done anything in the sport apart from stayed undefeated against terrible journeymen or novices.

Harding was ok, Griffin was good, McCallum was 41 and never should have been a LHW anyway. He was small MW, SMW. R. Johnson was also ok.

For the P4P number one in the sport to fight those guys fight after fight after fight at his supposed best weight and in his prime years is a bit incredible I find. Fair enough, it's his life, career and his money and all that but still....For a 'greatest ever' LHW you need a bit more than Montell Griffin and a 41 year old McCallum and a bunch of complete nobodies that have shiny records.

Beat Dariusz Michalczewski. Fight Tarver before Ruiz. Michael Nunn and Graciano Rocchigiani would have been decent names as well. Maybe convince fighters like Calzaghe and Hopkins to move up in weight.
