I read that Don Jordan the former WW champ from late 1950s suffered from some serious mental issues. He was interviewed for the book "In this corner" and made some bizarre comments back when the interview took place in the 70s.

bruno and fury gave this emotional sharing of their depression and mental issues. From Fury's words I see he went through almost identical stuff i went through a few years before. Mine was over relationships and drug abuse and it took me many years and great diet to improve my health. When I heard what Fury went through I cried for him as it was just like mine a few years before. I always loved bruno i was his biggest fan as a kid and he always had a brilliant sense of humour bruno and my brother says bruno has the manliest voice of any man. Mike Tyson said when he met bruno a couple of years ago that bruno was sectioned and he mike was in and out of mental hospitals over ten times.
I think more people should grow their understanding of mental illness and ways to change things for the better. Diet alone can make so much difference I swear. But people need to research diet as there is so much stuff we get wrong.
Of course many boxers have had mental problems but keep it private but Fury and Bruno should be respected for being open and therefore helping many around the world who have been saved to fight another day by their words.
this is a very kind fury discussing his depression. He is a friend of mine and I have known him since he was a boy and I admire him immensly. In 2001 an 12 year old fury with his dad on a london bound train heard i boxed and he had gloves and he boxed me for a few seconds on the train and i said to his dad "that boy hits hard" and we laughed and he really did hit hard. A great guy fury is and I always felt a great feeling of like mindedness with him. our paths cross all through the years and we helped each other with motivation and just kind of upbeat stuff and i am impossibly hard to get close to but I let him know I really appreciate his help and motivation and just saying hi is all i needed to just know all is okay between us and i am only now opening up again thanks to help from lifelong friends such as him who help me feel better about life in general. that's my input on this topic.
this is the bruno i love! He has a great sense of humour!
look at frank he hasn't got a mean bone in his body. He is such a kind bloke and I have always been his biggest fan in the world. He has a great sense of humour and is just such an innocent kind man. I hope he is happy today.Last edited by max baer; 12-05-2024, 05:38 AM.

Mental illness is such a broad term. Guys like Mike Tyson, and Tyson Fury were diagnosed with depression. Depression is classified as a mental illness, but we could classify most of earth's population with mental illness at one time or another. And while mental illness is said to be incurable v, many people diagnosed have come out of it. I submit that may substance abuse was the culprit more than mental illness. I am of course not a doctor.
