I just watched Ali vs Dunn 1976. It's amazing how many straight right hands Ali lands straight in the center of Dunn's face. The southpaw was no match, going down 5 times.

A strange one from 1991, Jerry Halstad vs. Tim Tomashek II (LOL)
And Ron Stander was the referee (if you can see the irony).
Jerry "Wimpy" Halstead was a country boy that somehow put together a 89-19 record fiighting primarly no names in Oklahoma. When he did venture out he lost to the likes of Buster Douglas, Greg Page, Ray Mercer and Tony Tubbs.
Tim "Doughboy" Tomashek was known for later getting a title shot against Tommy Morrison. In 1993 on ESPN, Morrison's opponent for his title defense was a no show and at the last minute it was discovered that a boxer was in the audience. So Tomashek, who had no right fighting for a title was added to the card with 30 minutes notice, talk about late replacement!
Anyways Tomashek clowned and goofed off for 4 one sided rounds making Morrison and the WBO look silly. Tomashek made a few fans along the way and got a few tv dates for it but he could never beat the likes of Wimpy Halsted.Last edited by TBear; 12-16-2010, 12:51 AM.

Round 1 Archie Ray Marquez
Not much in the round as Marquez started
very slow but took over a little down the

Round 2 Archie Ray Marquez
Not much landing effectively although Marquez got his jab
going a little and managed to hook of it and landed that
punch a couple of times, right uppercut was also effective
Round 3 Archie Ray Marquez
Again another round where not much effective landed although Marquez
just about landed a few more shots to the body and he scored a counter
left hook toward the end.
Round 4 Derrick Campos
Derrick Campos just edged this on aggression imo, Marquez did not
land much effectively and caught a few shots from Campos, particularly down
the stretch.
Round 5 Archie Ray Marquez
Better round for Marquez as he got his fast combination's off and landed his
most consistently effective punches of the fight imo, accuracy still sucks though.
Round 6 Archie Ray Marquez
Campos started well and got the best of a combo between the two but he let
his workrate fall off and as the round wore on Marquez started landing
the jab and scored with a combo toward the end and was a little more active overall
Round 7 Archie Ray Marquez
Got the jab going and countered when Campos rushed him, Campos upped his
workrate but he was too inaccurate and wild with his punches as Marquez
landed the better shots.
Round 8 Archie Ray Marquez 10/8
Campos was doing okay in this last round as he landed the best two punches
of the round a left hook right hand at the beginning of the round he then upped
his workrate although toward the end of the round Marquez dropped him, Campos
was not hurt and aggrieved that he felt it was not a KD got up and went back at
Marquez aggressively as the bell rang.
Campos was too inactive and when he did throw punches he was lunging in and
leaving himself open, Marquez's accuracy was also shockingly bad imo although he
did land with good speed and threw in combination.
In the first fight, Curry was a replacement for Roberto Duran. Benitez fought as though he had little regard for Curry in their first fight, not showing any of his remarkable speed, defense and counterpunching. Benitez was dropped twice in the 4th and once in the 5th, and was way behind on my scorecard going into the 8th round. Benitez won the last three rounds on my scorecard, making it 5-5 in rounds, as New York scored on the rounds system back then. Benitez was lucky to escape with a majority decision, setting up the rematch the following year.
In the rematch, Benitez fought one of the best fights of his career. After splitting the first four rounds with Curry, Benitez began hitting Curry with lightning combos in the 5th, and made Curry look like an amateur as he made Curry miss the rest of the fight badly. Benitez scored with several right hand leads, and easily won the fight on scorecard, 8-2. One judge actually had the fight even, but the other two judges easily saw Benitez the winner. I recommend all Benitez fans to see this fight, as well as their first fight.

I just watched George Foreman vs Boone Kirkman. Foreman knocks Kirkman down in the first 3 seconds of the 1st round by puhsing him down. Then duly KO's him later in round 1. Still, it was surprising seeing how fast and easily Boone was put on the floor with a shove.

Watched Tony Canzoneri vs Billy Petrolle II, said to have been Canzoneri's best ever performance. One cannot disagree as Canzoneri handled the tough Billy Petrolle with relative ease. Petrolle crowded Canzoneri from the beginning and went to the body with both hands, but ate counters for his trouble. Canzoneri was fast as lightning at parts, landing double left hooks and uppercuts in combinations.
We are very fortunate to have as many Canzoneri fights on film as we do. There was no one who fought like he did.
