with the left hook to body & head.
Round 4
Another tough round to score, im gonna go for Louis as he
upset
Round 5 Charles
Clear round for Charles as he landed a number of clean
counters on Louis
Round 6 Louis
Both guys languished inside this round but Louis managed
to land his stiff jab this round, he also landed a nice clean left
hook when Charles was pulling out.
Round 7 Louis
Charles started well landing good clean shots but mid round
he stopped working and Louis started to come on landing to
the body and pressing him, Louis finished the better of the two
imo
Round 8 Charles
Charles came back well this round by shooting right hands
counters at Louis and catching him
Round 9 Charles

Charles was incharge most of the way although Joe tried to steal it by
coming on late, however Charles was able to fight him off and keep him
out of the round
Round 14 Charles
Early on Charles potshotted Louis from outside with right hands, he seem to hurt
Louis mid way through the right, could not tell whether i was Louis eye that was
hurting or whether a punch landed that shook Louis, Charles did land an uppercut
and Louis voluntarily seem to want to back up like he was hurt, Charles backed him
up and put the pressure on
Round 15 Charles
Charles showed remarkable fitness, he seemed to get a second wind in round 12 and
never stopped moving and punching the whole fight, Louis's aged reflexes meant he
found it hard to get off first and sustain action,
Louis aged reflexes also made it hard for him to counter Charles who was quicker
and able to counter of get off first from outside, Charles was even able to stay inside
and **** it out with Louis when he had to. Louis jab landed some solid jabs on the
Charles though imo.

In both fights, Chandler dominated Murata with his left jab and right cross. In their first fight, which was a 15 round draw, Murata and Chandler stood toe to toe for most of the fight. In the subsequent two fights, Chandler kept the smaller Murata off of him by using his great jab. Chandler in the two rematches fought as smooth a fighter as I have ever seen. No wasted motion, and his combos were pinpoint accurate. In Murata II, after completely dominating Murata, dropped him three times with some of the prettiest uppercuts you will ever see. Finally, the ref stopped the fight.
In Chandler-Murata III, Chandler's vaunted right hand dropped Murata in the 2nd and 3rd round. Murata gave it his all, but Chandler was too good. In the 10th, once again with a right cross and uppercut, Murata was dropped 3 times, causing the referee to stop the fight. Chandler was an amazing talent and one of the greatest 118 pound fighters of all time. Later, I will talk about his first fight with Julian Solis and his 2 fights with Oscar Muniz.

Watched some Panama Al Brown fights. It's difficult to imagine any bantamweight beating him at his best. Along with being freakishly tall at 5'11, he was a complete boxer and counter puncher with fast hands and a great chin. Brown fought in the 1920's and 1930's, but watching him he might as well have been fighting today.
Also watched Manuel Ortiz knock down the French challenger Theo Medina a dozen of times. He was probably the best infighter at bantamweight.

Ironically, I watched this fight last night, exactly 30 years to the date the fight took place. I was so sure back then that Davis was going to beat Watt. Watt dominated this entire fight in front of his Scottish fans. Davis simply did not let his hands go. Watt outlanded and outhustled the gold medalist for the entire 15 rounds. Davis fought like he was traumatized. Just a few months earlier, Davis completely dominated Vilomar Fernandez to earn his title shot. In this fight, Davis simply did not show up. Give credit to Watt, he fought a great fight. Carlos Padilla must have been blind. as the ref scored it 145-144 for Watt. If Davis won 4 rounds in this fight, he was lucky. I scored it 147-138 for Watt, and when I first saw the fight 30 years ago, I was rooting for Davis.

Vilomar fought the fight of his life. His constant movement and right leads kept Arguello frustrated all night long. Arguello surprised me by not going to the body as much as he should have. That was the key to Duran knocking Fernandez out the previous year. I had Fernandez up 5 rounds to 4 going into the last round. In the 10th, Alexis hit Vilomar with everything, yet Fernadez withstood it and even landed his own big shots down the stretch. I had the fight scored dead even. Vilomar won by split decision. Arguello hugged Fernandez after the fight and raised his hand. Arguello was one of the classiest fighters to ever fight the game, as he made no excuses and complimented Fernandez on both his strategy and execution. A must see fight.

Round 1 Rosario
He was the only one landing punches in
the round
Round 2 Rosario 10/8
Quiet round for the first minute but Rosario hurt
Davis with a an overhand right, then he went on to score a knockdown
with a kind of half hook, half jab.
Round 3 Davis
Good round for Davis he nailed Rosario with the right hand
a few times and was busier than in previous rounds
Round 4 Rosario (close round)
Both had the moments in this round but just liked
Rosario's early pressure and hard punching
Round 5 Davis
again both had their moments but Davis landed the more eye catching
punches, particularly a nice counter uppercut, he was tattooing Rosario
near the ropes at one point, Rosario was too inactive in the round although
he did score also.
Round 6 Davis
Rosario inactive for almost the whole round
Round 7 Davis
Rosario inactive again! Davis scored the jab
early and nailed Chapo with a lovely counter right uppercut
left hook
Round 8 Davis
Few punches landed but Davis dictated the action again whilst
Rosario was inactive
Round 9 Rosario close
Best round for Rosario for some time, both landed in this round
but i thought Rosario closed a bit better
Round 10 Rosario
Good round for Rosario he landed some hard! shots in this round
Round 11 Davis
Davis outworked him imo, dictated the pace, scored the jab and double
counter hooks when he charged in
Round 12 Rosario 10/8
Davis was winning the round but got nailed so i had to score it 10/8, it was
to competitive for me not to award Rosario a 10/8 round, if it was all Davis i could of
gone an even round with the knockdown.
