The best James Jeffries review, by himself.

1--Jeffries places the Hank Griffin fight in late 1891, when he was only sixteen. He has quite a few details, such as who was the referee, the venue for the fight, how much he was paid, and his memory of how the fight went. Very interesting.

2-- Jeffries emphasizes that he was not as "green" as is often implied. After the Griffin fight in 1891, he trained and engaged in "smokers" This does provide a possible explanation for fights with such as Frank Childs or Ed Martin ( early Ko wins ) which were mentioned in later newspaper articles. He specifically mentions eight years of fighting before meeting Fitz.

3 - Says he was 20-0 before meeting Fitz. Where are the missing fights?

Jeffries come across as honest. One day someone will uncover his early career fights in more detail. It might take research into achieved X papers in digital. Anyway enjoy!

    - - Olympic Club files. Good luck with that research. Might even stumble across the Record of record setting MLB HOFer Frank Chance whom Sully and Corbett thought highly of.

I came across Jeffries vs George LaBlahe in France and the write up, but that one was boxing vs French foot fighting. Jeffries won via Ko in one. It is written the Jeffries KO'd ten men in his trip the UK after he won the title form Fitz. Who the names were would require research of the papers there.
