    Boxer Nicknames

Alright. I wanna hear from y’all about your favorite nicknames a boxer has ever had. I ask that you pick one nickname, make sure it’s a nickname someone else on this thread hasn’t used already, and explain briefly what you like so much about the nickname you picked.
My personal favorite nickname is the Bronze Bomber a.k.a Deontay Wilder.
Whatever your opinions of the boxer himself, I think we can agree this is an excellent nickname.

The name obviously references his explosive power that carried him as far as winning a Bronze medal at the Olympics. It also references Joe Louis (The Brown Bomber) who originates from Wilder’s state of Alabama; I love how this nickname isn’t just homage, but an arguable improvement on the original. And if you disagree, say Brown Bomber and Bronze Bomber out loud to yourself. I ask you, which one really POPS?
Irregardless of all that context behind it, the nickname is just plain awe inspiring. It invokes the image of a bronze statue that’s come to life just to f*** you up.

Haven’t heard of him, why did they call him the Ding-A-Ling Man?

I think I will have a few entries . . . This one is my favorite becuse it tells a story about the fight game.

          KRISTIAN LAIGHT: "Mr. Reliable"

If you don't recognize him you'll get it when you look hom up.

You got to be impressed that he was only stopped five times. He always earned his dollar. He never let anyone down.

OK now to respect the OP - my favorite

          Jack Dempsey: 'Kid Blackie'

The Prairie Cyclone, because it belonged to an old time fighter who retired from boxing in my small hometown to start a construction business and train amateur fighters on the side.

Allegedly he was an adult film star for a short stint before his boxing career

That’s definitely one way to earn a reputation in the sport!

A statue coming to life already happened in the video game Rocky Legends, where you get the option to play as the Rocky Balboa statue:
