After this sparring session, Holyfield said Tua will be a future World Champion. 13 years later Tua still hasn't become World Champion, and it's highly unlikely he will now.
All in all he beat 4 World Champions, Oleg Maskaev,Hasim Rahman,Michael Moorer,and John Ruiz. But could never win a World Title himself.
When i look back at some Heavyweights Champions like Francesco Damiani, Herbie Hide and Bruce Seldon (No disrepect to these fighters) and think these all held World Heavyweight Titles and Tua didn't, it kinda amazes me.
But these fighters were in the right place at the right time and were given the right fights.
For Tua's only Heavyweight Title match he was given a ATG Heavyweight in Lennox Lewis and was virtually wipe washed.Last edited by Southpaw16BF; 04-14-2009, 10:28 AM. -
I like this video of Holyfield and Tua sparring, Tua was perfect for Holyfield to prepare against Tyson, There's also this video of Tyson and Oliver McCall sparring and the atomic bull had given up.Comment

If David Tua would of beaten Chris Byrd in his IBF Title Elimination bout, he and Holyfield would of fought for the vacant Title. But Byrd virtually wipe washed Tua in one of his best ever displays and then would go on to produce another one of his best displays beating Holyfield on a points decision.
Tua-Holyfield would of been rather interesting in 2002....Comment
