yes, hes pretty damn good, aint he? he has a powerful, good jab and a very nasty right hand. and thats basically all Tunney needed to throw against Dempsey to beat him.

and even where he lacks in skill, I think he just might make up for that in his power, reach and size.

I will say that Willard was tougher than Wlad, but watch the man. his defence is awful, and doesnt have half the power or speed that Wlad has. doesnt keep the distance as well as Wlad does either. Tunney was able to beat Dempsey using jabs and right hands on the outside, and then clinching right away when Dempsey got close. sound like anyone to you?
Wlad is far from invincible, but he has more than enough tools to beat Jack Dempsey.

Tunney was a lot more entertaining then Wlad was imo. So they aren't that similar.

Also watch that sparring video TheMachine posted. Dempsey does a good job of really slipping the other guys jab. The other dude seems to have some speed as well.

You forgot about quick footwork, superior boxing skills, stamina, a Granite chin, and willpower.

Never seen any full Jack Dempsey fights, dont know much about the guy except that in this day he'd be a cruiserweight, and that Mike Tyson has been compared to him. So im guessing he was a beast in his day, but at 6'7 or so, and at 230 or 240 lbs, Wlad would be way too big for Dempsey. He'd prolly KO him

his jabs do a lot of damage for jabs, and do their job...it keeps his opponents off of him. dont be so biased. and his right hand isnt all that predictable when its behind that jab, and its quite quick for a big guy.

First of all, the guy is awful. seriously, what the hell is he even trying to do? he has 0 footwork, he cant keep the distance at all, and he cant even clinch well.
second of all, he doesnt fight like Wladimir. maybe you could compare him to Vitali, but thats it. but Willard and Wladimir? no way

and if youre going to try and play the opponents game, then dont forget Dempsey was knocked out cold by Fireman Jim, got outboxed by Bill Miske, could only beat Willie Meehan once out of 5 fights, got sent flying through the ropes against the unskilled Firpo, had to result to a low blow and hitting on the break combo to beat Jack Sharkey and got soundly outboxed and almost stopped twice against a light heavyweight.

this myth that Dempsey was an amazing fighter needs to end. he deserves respect for his advancements in boxing, but he was not the destroyer people make him out to be sometimes.
