Best at Light Flyweight

    Best at Light Flyweight

    In my spare time (of which I have far too much) I decided to list who I consider the 5 best boxers at each weight. I know there are already plenty of threads that follow this kind of idea, but I wanted to look at some of the less glamourous divisions which are not often talked about.

    I have missed strawweight out completely because my knowledge would not do a list justice, although I am sure that if a list was compiled we would all agree that Ricardo Lopez would be number 1. (feel free to add your list for strawweight if you like)

    So for my first thread I thought i'd start at the bottom and the Light Flyweights...

    1. Michael Carbajal
    2. Humberto Gonzalez
    3. Myung-Woo yuh
    4. Hilario Zapata
    5. Jorge Arce

    I'll be honest, my knowledge of the Light Flyweights is limited to say the least so I hope someone is able to put me in my place.

    I also need to point out that I have only taken achievements at the particular weight class into consideration when doing this list.

    Gonzalez is better then Carbajal imo. He was battering him the first fight until he got KOd and then Gonzalez won the next two.

    Not sure on the rest of the list.

        Lopez only fought 3 fights at Light Flyweight

        Calderon has looked highly unimpressive at light flyweight and is considering moving back down to minimumweight.

          Ricardo Lopez could have been one of the best at light flyweight, but with only 3 fights at the weight you can't have him on the all time list.

          Calderon hasn't done enough at light flyweight yet either. However, if he could unify with Solis or Sosa he will do himself a lot of favours.

            I count straws and lightflys as the same since only 3 pounds separate them. Calderon has defeated what many consider the best lightfly in the world Cazares twice, how is that unimpressive? If you want Lopez and Calderon removed from my list, I won't argue, but Calderon beat a tremendous fighter twice and is the Ring World Champ

              That is a fair point about the small weight difference and counting them as the same division. If we do that Lopez would definately top the list and Calderon would rank highly, not too sure if he'd crack my top 5, but he'd be there or thereabouts.

                  Jung Koo Chamg has to be 1 or 2. He defeated Zapata for the title and held it over 5 years, never losing the title and defending it 15 times. He made an ill-fated comeback and lost to Gonzalez, but other than Finito, no fighter under flweight ever dominated for so long
