i actually do..
recently ive read tom bogs book, he fought monzon for his title, it was fought in copenhagen, the capital in denmark..
he said, that many thought monzon was arrogant, but bogs thought he had the mindset and charisma of a champ.. when they stood face to face, for photos i think, bogs said to monzon, if you beat me, this is yours, pointing to his necklass, made of gold with a small pair of boxing gloves on..
monzon beat bogs, and after the fight, there was an afterparty, bogs was hanging out with his friends, and monzon entered the room. bogs tsaid, that he saw monzon aproaching his table, and cool and calm monzon said, i believe this is mine, took the necklass, and left.. talk about pissing in someones face, but that was the deal, and monzon sure as hell made bogs keep his promiseComment

i heard he got ****d in jail! true story. Does anyone else think they should let incarcerated fighters have a training camp inside so their talent doesn't go to waste? It would do them and society good. They should also be let out with a dog tag and some prison guards to have their fights, in the same way other inmates are released for funerals (which don't really make a difference to others). The same should apply for the Plymouth FC Keeper who got 7 years for death by drunk driving. Athletes are public property and must be used to serve the greater good: our entertainment.Comment

Monzon kayoed Bogs in 5 rounds. From a danish perspective let me add that Tom Bogs changed his trainer for this fight. Mogens Palle, the manager/promotor, brought in the famed Al Silvani to prepare Bogs. Silvani decided to change Bogs style to fight like Joe Frazier, thinking that bobbing, weaving and throwing the left hook was the right medicine to conquer the great Monzon. Of course it didn't work and bringing in Silvani is one of the biggest regrets Tom Bogs has regarding his career. He didn't think he should have altered his style.Comment

Carlos Monsoon: Biography

For Brusa the trainer has a social function as well, educating to his disciples, becoming his father, advisor and friend.
The 12 of December of 1962 fought for the last time like amateur, winning to him by points to Cejas. His first professional fight, the 6 of February of 1963, was victory before Ramon Montenegro, in Rafaela. Only needed 2 rounds to win. The trial, stopped to the country, and as with his fights, Santa Fe lived those days following the event transmitted live from the radio.
The sentence determined that Carlos Monsoon was responsible for homicide and had to fulfill a sentence of 11 years.
Santa Fe; 8 of January of 1995: El negro, already enjoyed, from a while, the conditional freedom. He worked in U.P.C.N., training boxers. And he returned, entering the night, to his cell of the Penitentiary Las Flores.
That afternoon, when he returned to prison, he lost the control of the car that he himself lead. He "bit" the border of the street and after seven spins, he and two companions were killed in the act.
The stirring goodbye that offered Santa Fe to him, was a sample for what it meant the champion for the people. The funeral wake was carried out in the Municipality of Santa Fe, where thousands of people concurred.
Monzon, it was for always and more than ever in the hearts of the Sabalero Town (Santa Fe) that will shout eternally: El negro Campion!"

In Fraser Scott's book "Weigh In" he claims that Monzon's goons threatened him before the fight and told him to not go past 2 rounds.Comment
