this was part of a four or five part documentary that was shown on the bbc about five years ago.
i've still got them on vhs somewhere and every so often have a look through them.
this episode is by far my favourite tho as it shows alot of things about the dark side of boxing.
from the fixed fights and the owned (by the mob) titles,
to the stranglehold that frankie carbo and others had on the sport.
it's a definite watch for any boxing fan that wants to learn about the history of the sport during arguably it's best years.
if i remember right there is also a good interview with a young mike tyson on one episode where he shows his true knowledge of the sport,
where he is looking through and commenting on old cine reels of jack dempsy. pure gold!!
thanks for this post dude im gonna have a looksy for that tape and hook up and old vcr and watch it again.
Your dead right man i saw a Dirty Business great show if you want to learn about the history side of boxing.i recorded on vhs by chance thank god i didn't miss out on taping it tape or id be piss..d..i have the one of a young Mike Tyson very rare & shows Tyson in different light the doc's name was [rules of the ring] you prob remember it was about John l'Sullivan + Jack Dempsey & Mike Tyson there are 2 more i know of Closest thing to Death & Black & White

this truly shows the dark side of the sport we love.
and how fighters like joe gans were told by their managers to throw fights if the wanted to keep fighting.
