    What was Ali's best fight?

I just got done watching Clay-Liston for the millionth time and am still convinced this was his greatest fight. His speed was blinding. He showed excellent power by rocking the normaly sturdy Liston in the 3rd. And he showed courage and recuperative skills by surviving the 5th were I believe Liston and his corner cheated by putting liniment in Sonny's hair and on his gloves to intentionally blind Clay and take advantage of the situation. What in your opinion was Ali's greatest fight? Vote and discuss.

A lot of people I know point to this fight. But in my opinion Williams was a shell of his former self and offered little resistence. On the other hand, Ali was brilliant and looked incredible. I still like the first Liston fight though. He was a massive underdog and destroyed a man who was destroying all other men. Thats just my opinion though.

Define best. If you mean performance wise, then the Williams fight in my opinion shows a prime Ali doing everything he does to perfection. The perfect fight.

Importance wise, the Foreman fight has to get the nod. Ali was facing a monster in his prime who nobody gave him a chance against. When Ali prevailed, it pretty much sealed his legacy as the greatest Heavyweight of all-time. Much like the Liston fight, except with so much contoversy surrounding the Liston fights, the 'Rumble In The Jungle' edges it out for importance.

As for his best fight, i have to say Ali-Frazier 3 from a viewing perspective. Both men went through hell in that fight.

Combine performance and importance to determine his best fight. In all honesty, I never thought of a criteria after watching the fight again, I just wanted some opinions. I can see where there would be a gray area though by leaving that door open.

                Yes. Likewise.
But what was a ''epic'' moment was when Frazier Ali 1, at the second fall of Ali I think where he just stood up like nothing was going on.

For me the first Liston fight. Ali (Clay) was the huge underdog and had little chance in most if not all of the boxing worlds eye's, yet he completely dazzled the great Liston.

After the lay off he gained weight and lost some of his foot speed and was never the same in my opinion, still great but for different reasons.

His performance against Folley is underrated and one of the best I've seen.
