25th Anniversary of Boom Boom Mancini-Kim fight

Can't believe it's been 25 years since the fight that took the life of Deuk Koo Kim. I was only 12 years old when this fight happened but I have seen it many times on replays. It actually was no walk in the park for Boom Boom.
This fight was one of the main reasons title fights went from 15 rounds to 12.
To be honest I wish it was back to 15 rounds. I think fighters are more conditioned now than they were 25 years ago and can handle the additional 9 minutes. Those "championship rounds" really would reduce the amount of close decisions. Would of loved a 3 more rounds of the Cotto-Mosley fight!

I remember this fight clearly as well. Great fight, sad outcome. Boom Boom was never the same.

Speaking of going from 15 to 12 rounds. I wonder why they went to 12, an even number, and not to 13? Seems odd numbered rounds would greatly reduce draws and close decsions.

I totally agree. Odd number of rounds would of made much more sense!
