i watched a documentary on WW2 that said the average young soldier in 1943 was 5'8" and about 150 lbs. men the size of jack johnson - 6' 1", dempsey - 6 ' 1/2", joe louis - 6'2" would be giants compared to the average guy.

It's interesting to see Fred Fulton's name up there because I did not realise that Jack Dempsey had fought him. I read an interview that Jack gave once and Fulton's name came up. In the interview Jack was asked about his opinion about Les Darcy and Jack, who called him "LESS", apparently lit up at the name and then related a story about the "unofficial" Fight in New York between Darcy and Fulton. Jack wasn't there but KEARNS was and old "DOC" talked about this to Dempsey often. So Dempsey told D'Arcy NILAND about how the 5ft. 7in. Darcy gave Fulton a thrashing and Fred refused to come out in the third. For even a Middleweight Legend to beat a 6ft. 6in. Giant would suggest that Fulton was a bum but Fred's record was pretty good, and Jack Dempsey said that Fred was the real deal, what was the result of Dempsey vs Fulton ??? I'd love to know. Incidentally Jack Dempsey said he was in AWE of Darcy and said that he was the best Middleweight of his time, " That LESS was a hell of a fighter a kind of Non-Pareil". That should settle any argument that DARCY is an A.T.G, indeed he was a potential G.O.A.T.
