Yea I dont think it would have mattered. Jack Johnson represented the first of the new breed of fighter. Only thing a prime Jeffries would have done is prolonged the beating a few more rounds.

Jefferies was tough, but he just wasn't anywhere near technical enough to do the job on Johnson.

Johnson KO by 20 over Prime Jeffries.

Not so much the 100 or so pounds Jeffries had to lose, it had more to do with the SIX YEARS without so much as a warmup fight. And still he goes 15 rounds with Johnson. In his prime, Jeffries was a 6'2" 220lb guy that could high jump over 6' and run 100 yards in just over 10 sec. He had power, he had a hell of a jaw and he had heart. In my opinion Johnson holds his own, maybe outboxes Jeffries for a dozen rounds or so before Jeffries wears him down and stops him.

I think Johnson would always be too fast and too ahead of his time for Jeffries. Johnson would win by a unanimous decision. Johnson's quick hand reflexes, fast footwork, and physical strength would be the diference here.

Jack Johnson UD 45 Jim Jeffries

Really? How so? Considering Johnson wasn't a big puncher. He was considered a master boxer of the time period. I think it would end before round 45 (wow) but not because Jeffries is 'killed'. I just think, even a prime Jeffries is no match for the technical skill of Johnson.

Jeffries would still be exhausted by the later rounds because Johnson would make him miss alot of hard thrown punches. After exhaustion set in for Jeffries I think Johnson would turn it up a notch and finish off an exhausted Jeffries.

In other words, it would probably go alot like the first fight albeit a little longer.

Johnson KILLS jeffries 100 out of 100 times. Jeffries even said himself that he could not have beaten Johnson even if he was in his prime. Very few fighters could beat Johnson. Jack Johnson was a monster in the ring.

I think , after the fight, Jeffries said something more along the lines of A few years ago it would have been a different fight, not that he could never have beaten Johnson.

I don't think Johnson would have KILLED (meaning outright dominating KO) a 26 year old Jim Jeffries. I think he would have beaten him yes but it would have been far more competitive.

                    No....

Jack Johnson would humble Jeffries no matter what. Jack Johnson was a butcher. Jack Johnson would be standing over Jeffries at the end of the fight no matter what.
