No McVey was the original Mike Tyson pretty much the same weight and build. He is in my avatar now.

I can't wait for the results I'm all excited like a big fight is about to start.

P.S. Me and Hawkins are in the process of sorting out a consensus and we've picked you as one of the honoury voters if your up for it.

There are a select few who all have different opinions but all knowledgable on all the eras not just the modern fighters.

You say the results of the first run, how many times did you run it and how many different winners were there.

            Very interesting.
I did like the look of that Tyson vs McVey matchup beforehand and both title bout and data boxing could be right on that outcome.

Very similar fighters and it's either Tyson early or McVey late.
From what I've read of McVey I like the sound of him. Fought many great fighters lots of times and beat them all with the exception of Jack Johnson who just had his number.

But he won the coloured heavyweight title twice and had he been given a shot at the championship could surely have won it.
A fine physical specimen built like Tyson but more ripped and very thick set face and intimidating especially in looks. He looked scarier than Liston and Tyson IMO.

So Jack Johnson gets to both finals.
The big surprise was Peter Jackson stopping Lennox Lewis. I think Lewis would have stopped him early, however he was extremely tough and had more stamina than Lewis so it's quite concievable he could have stopped him in the 14th round. Especially as Lennox never fought past 12 rounds and Jackson technically drew with Corbett in 61 rounds and tko'd Godfrey in 19 to win the coloured heavyweight title.

There is certainly a lot to discuss on these fights and I'll give others a chance so everyone gets a mention.

Poet Thanks and I'm gonna get myself that program.

              Hi Hurricane!

That was one run, I'll be running it the second time today. I'm really fond of those early black fighters like McVey and Jackson ect. They're so often overlooked! A note on the 61 rounds. They weren't 3 minute rounds. Under the old London Prizefighting Rules that were used back then a round ended when a fighter was knocked down or made contact with the ropes. So a round could be 10 minutes long.....or 10 seconds long.

I weren't sure if it was full rounds or not.
But the expression Toeing the line comes from old time boxing, like you said the round ended when someone got dropped and they had to be able to put their toes on the white line in the corner in order to continue the next round.

wow, Peter Jackson had some genuinely tough opponents and pulled it off. Especially the TKOs of Lewis and Foreman.

In every batch you'll have some goofy outcomes. Just random chance at work. Data Boxing is VERY fond of Ken Norton LOL!
