Regarding the comparisons of fighters from different era's.
If you take all the top heavyweights and had they all been born say 30-40 years ago how many would have won the title or a version of it had they all been competing against each other.
Also who could have won a title in each era. So could Tyson have won the title betwen 1900-1910,1910-1920,1930-1940 and so on, bearing in mind he wouldn't be as big or strong or as technically good as he was. How would the other greats fare in each of the other era's. Who could have won a title in every era.
Let's discuss.

This dosent mean the fighters now or recent would be usless in the past. I mean Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield are all amazing athletes and would have been champion in any era

That's what makes the greats great. They all stood out from the rest at one point in time. Of course Lennox Lewis would probably have beat Jack Dempsey but had they both been in the same era and that would have been a much more even fight.
I suppose when discussing who would beat who you have to try and think of them being in the same era. It's the same with almost any sport take 100m sprinters for example. Carl Lewis would have beat Jesse Owens every day of the week but that don't make him better. The sport had moved on considerably not just in terms of training and athletes being better prepared but track surfaces had advanced and the shoes they wore as well. Carl Lewis back in Owen's day on sinder tracks and old shoes and not as well prepared it would have been a very even race, and vice versa.
That's what makes imagining these matchups good fun but also almost impossible to predict.

Same goes for Johnson,Dempsey and Louis had they grown up and fought in the 70's or 80's-90's all 3 would have been good enough to win the title at least once. They were all great and ahead of their time and would have been better in almost every department with the exception of maybe hunger and desire and a need to fight for their lives as things would have been easier than back when they fought and they would have earned more money and wouldn't have needed to fight as often as they did.

Agreed. Everything evolves. Techniques, training and all of that. Someone is always coming along and revolutionizing some aspect of any sport. Plus, the human body, the marvelous machine that it is, always get better compared to previous athletes. It's just the way it is.
It's hard to take someone like Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson and place then in a mental ring with someone like Dempsey or Louis. Because the guys of today are so much stronger and faster BUT to be fair you have to level the playing field. If you don't it'll always come out onesided.
Lots of people probably think I'm a Marciano fanatic and thats not the case at all. I just don't like to see these older guys thrown under a bus without any acknowledgement of their talent and accomplishments.
When I see stuff like "Tyson KO 1 Marciano" it's totally ridiculous.

Foreman Beat Joe Frazier in round 2 and 5. But frazier is still a great, it was his style that lost him the fight. Marciano would come at tyson and Tyson would come at Marciano. Tysons quicker, Stronger, Punches harder. they both have decent chins aswell! and if there was a brawl in the first which is likely tyson would come up on top, thats of course if u just put them together Using a "time machine", not if u try to work out how good they would have been with or without better training and that. Im not sure about KO1 but i feel tyson would win via KO

Had they both fought in the same era whether it now or back then I feel Tyson would still be quicker and more technical but Marciano would just keep getting up and wear Tyson down because he had the better chin and heart.
I see this maybe being similar to Foreman vs Lyle although their styles are totally different they both come forward and are huge hitters.

Tyson had a good chin aswell. And Hit harder than Marciano, i couldnt see him lasting too long cose he will take punches harder than he had ever taken and it wont be one hard punch it will be 5.
