Why did Sullivan refused to fight any black fighters?

is it because he disliked them? or was he scared of them?.

Because if he kills one, black people would think he's a racist

A little bit of both I think. He didn't like them and didn't want to lose to them.

Why would he be scared of them? If Gentleman Jim fought Peter Jackson to a draw Sullivan would have had a very good chance as well.

not scared, disliked them. It's hard to see Dempsey being scared of any man.

When I was a kid and would go to the black neighborhoods looking for a basketball game, a lot of times they wouldn't let me on the court. Were they scared of me? Hardly. Racism is not simply fear, it's more complicated than that.

Back then you would probadly be looked down on for losing to a black man.

I don't buy the ''scared to death'' thing. After all, if there where such things as the most feared, and best black heavyweight it would have been Jack Johnson. And yes, Jeffries faced him with the worst condition he had ever been in. And i saw no fear in him when he was fighting Johnson.
