I reckon SRR did enough on this fight. He controlled the fight when at distance and exacted a lot of damage on Basillio. Basillio, not surprisingly, did his best work on the inside and during the clinches when he was throwing the majority of the punches. Interestingly in the rematch SRR threw a lot of punches when they clinched and fouled Basillio whenever he was fouled himself. He obviously believed that the infighting cost him the first fight. Both great fights between great fighters. I love the sportsmanship the fighter of that era showed. They got a close decision against them and seemingly take it with good grace. No accusations of poor judging, referring, pay TV favouritism
