Today was a big day at the EBU office in Rome with no less than five different purse bids that went ahead at noon and here are the results:
The fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title between Umut Camkiran (18-0) and Zhan Kossobutskiy (18-0) again had no interested bidders, and the title isn't just still vacant - the EBU will look for two other challengers in hope of creating more interest.
At super middleweight French promoter Y12 Boxing was the sole bidder and won the rights for champion Kevin Lele Sadjo's defense against German challenger Emre Cukur (19-1). The fight will go ahead September 17 in Creteil (France). Sadjo (17-0) won the title with an upset victory over Jack Cullen (20-2-1)
AGON Sports bid 107,666 Euro for the right to stage the fight for the vacant EBU super welter title between Jama Saidi (21-2) and Abass Barou (12-1). Wasserman Boxing bid 88,808 Euro. Date and site is to be announced for this hot all-German matchup.
Italian OPI since 82 bid 10,074 while Nouzonville came in second best with an offer for 9,550 Euro for the fight for the vacant EBU female flyweight title between French lady Justine Lallemand (8-1-1) and Italian champ Martine Bernile (4-1-1).
With respect to EU middleweight champ Marten Arsumanjan's mandatory defense against Bjorn Schicke (19-1-1), the parties reached an agreement, and the fight will go ahead on September 10 in Wuppertal. Arsumanjan (12-1-2) stopped Schicke the first time around.
