German super middleweight Eduard Gutknecht (30-4-1) knocked out Artem Redko (20-5-3) from Ukraine in the third in the headliner of Wiking Box Team´s show in Gifhorn Saturday (June 18) night.
Gutknecht dominated the fight from the beginning in what was Redko´s first fight in two years. Gutknecht has challenged for world titles twice and lost both times, but held the EBU light heavyweight title 2011-13.
Gutknecht lost to WBA regular 175-pound champ Juergen Braehmer in his last fight, which took place in March, but took the fight on relatively late notice when Thomas Oosthuizen pulled out. It was a rematch of their fight from 2013, which Braehmer also won by way of unanimous decision.
In other German Saturday action from this weekend, heavyweight boxer and promoter Werner Kreiskott (23-19-2) won the vacant WBFed Int´l title when Bosnian Drazan Janjanin (11-7) retired with a shoulder injury and didn´t come out for round seven in the headliner of this Fight Club Wuppertal (headed by Kreiskott) promotion in Velbert. This fight was also for the German version of the WBU title.
On the undercard cruiserweight Sotirios ”the Lawyer” Georgikeas (15-1) stopped Adil Rusidi (7-25) in two one-sided rounds. And yes, Georgikeas is indeed a lawyer.
