Curmel Moton announced via social media that his next opponent will be Frank Zaldivar.
The fight will be a six-round junior welterweight bout taking place on the preliminary card of David Benavidez-David Morrell pay-per-view on February 1 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Moton, 18, who is now training in Las Vegas, will be fighting for the first time since he missed weight for a scheduled bout against Bryan Mercado which forced a cancellation of the November 30 bout. Moton was scheduled to fight on December 30 in Japan on the undercard of Ryan Garcia-Rukiya Anpo, but Garcia had to withdraw with an injury that saw the event postponed indefinitely.
Moton fought four times in 2024, and will be making his 2025 debut. Moton enters on a three-fight knockout streak, and has garnered the praise of Hall of Fame boxer Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
Moton, 6-0 (5 KOs) has knocked out his last three opponents. Moton last fought in October stopping Hilario Martinez Moreno in the first round.
Zaldivar, a 28-year-old Cuban fighter, who turned pro in 2019, now resides in Miami. Zaldivar is coming off his first career loss in August to Yosdiel Napoles via a 10-round unanimous decision. Zaldivar enters his fight with Moton with a record of 5-1 (3 KOs).
