HBO has reported that Sergio Martinez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. generated 475,000 pay-per-view buys and close to $25 million dollars in revenue. HBO, who projected a buyrate of 250,000, saw that same number come from satellite customers alone. As more of the figures are collected, HBO expects the current buyrate number to rise.

The sold-out event, with over 19,000 people in the venue, took place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, and saw Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KOs) dominate Chavez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) for eleven rounds - and then the drama broke out when Chavez dropped and badly hurt Martinez in the twelfth. The Argentine star survived to secure a unanimous decision, and the WBC middleweight title, with scores of 118-109, 118-109 and 117-110.
