Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport has confirmed that they have signed Wishaw's Charlie Flynn; the youngster won the lightweight gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has opted to turn over while he is still a hot commodity.  Hearn Tweeted the news of the latest edition to his promotional stable earlier today.  The 21-year-old will make his professional bow on December 14; he will be managed by Alex Morrison and trained by Peter Harrison, the father of former WBO world featherweight titlist Scott.

“I’ve got a good team around me,” stated Flynn when speaking to The Daily Record.  “Eddie has put on some of the biggest fights in the world and Alex will look after me as a boxer and sort out sponsors and the like.  The whole thing is going to be running smoothly and if anyone can take me to the top they certainly can.”

He added: “Eddie will get me four fights televised on Sky next year and two other fights guaranteed in Scotland too.”

Flynn joins recent addition Bradley Saunders and the slew of Matchroom signings; he opted for the professional ranks instead of waiting for Rio 2016 and will be an interesting addition to the U.K.’s thriving lightweight scene, assuming of course he stays at that weight after going into full-time training.
