WBC, WBA middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez rejected the recent statements of Tom Loeffler, who works with Gennady Golovkin's GGG Promotions.
Loeffler stated in several interviews that a trilogy fight with Golovkin was a "big part" of Canelo's 11-fight, $365 million contract with DAZN.
The statements were brought to Canelo's attention, and he quickly raised his eyebrows at the claim.
Last September, Canelo won a close twelve round majority decision over Golovkin to capture the WBC, WBA titles. The contest was a rematch of their September 2017 clash, which ended in a controversial twelve round split draw.
Canelo stands firm, that Golovkin needs a title around his waist to earn a trilogy fight.
"There is no clause in my contract that forces me to fight against him for a third time, but if he wins the title of World Boxing Organization - then I will be ready to see him again. I want to be the undisputed middleweight world champion," Canelo told La Gazzetta.
Next month, Canelo will get the chance to add another title - when he challenges IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo views Jacobs as a tougher challenge than Golovkin and more dangerous than Floyd Mayweather, who handed the Mexican superstar his only career defeat in 2013.
Should he beat Jacobs, he wants to face whoever holds the WBO title - which is Demetrius Andrade.
"It's going to be very difficult, he's a very complete fighter, he moves very well inside the ring and he's taller than me. I'm training to take care of the details that can be decisive, in order to be able to counteract his best punches. I will not deny that it will be a very complicated night," Canelo said.
"Without a doubt, Mayweather was very technical, but he did not have the power of Jacobs, while Golovkin is stylistically speaking incomplete. [Jacobs southpaw style] will not be a problem, we have studied and we have prepared the right strategy to face him. The goal of 2019 is to unify all of the middleweight belts of the world.. no Mexican has achieved it and for me it would be an honor to do it."
