The rematch between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will be another war in the ring, according to Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, who is the manager and co-trainer of the Mexican superstar.
Last September at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) and Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) fought to a controversial twelve round split draw.
The rematch is now set for May 5th, with the IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight world titles at stake.
Canelo has promised to end this fight by knockout, because he doesn't want any scoring controversies or any complaints in the aftermath.
' Saul said the other day that he was going to knock Golovkin out so there is no doubt about anything, not even with the judges and also Golovkin said the same thing. The mood is getting warmer and I think it's good for the fight, because the two of them are going to go out and look for the knockout - but as I have always said, in boxing there is no formula to achieve the knockout, we are going to work very hard to win the fight," Chepo said to Beto Gonzalez.
In the next few days, there should be an announcement made regarding the exact location of the contest.
"The promotional tour seems to start at the end of February. We are already working as usual, running in the mornings in Guadalajara, then in the afternoon in the gym. Canelo is sparring with the 'Laberinto' Sálazar, which always helps us, but I think the strong work is going to start in about three weeks,'' Chepo said.
Chepo says their overall confidence was raised after seeing that his boxer was able to hurt Golovkin in the fight. According to the veteran coach, Golovkin was never able to hurt Canelo.
''The knockout is very possible, because Canelo has already adapted to this weight division. Beecause if you really take a good look at the fight, Saul hurt Golovkin and we never saw Golovkin hurt Canelo," Chepo said.
