The star fighters of the function of April 23 at the Forum in Los Angeles, California, successfully complied with 30 Day weight regulation of World Boxing Council. IBO/WBA/IBF/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin weighed in at 164-pounds, while IBF mandatory challenger Dominic Wade was 175.6-pounds
Due to the overwhelming response from fans, additional $30 tickets will be released tomorrow, Friday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m. PT. Making his sixteenth middleweight world title defense, Golovkin headlines UNDEFEATED, against undefeated mandatory challenger Dominic Wade.
All tickets may be purchased online through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com) or in person at the Forum Box Office for these sections that have never been opened for a boxing event previously.
With the projected sell-out for April 23 and the May 16 event last year at the Fabulous Forum, Golovkin has now established himself as the top ticket seller in the state of California. Additionally, with his sell-out of Madison Square Garden (20,748) on October 17, Golovkin is also now the dominant ticket seller in the state of New York in addition to California, boxing’s two biggest US markets.
Said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions, “The April 23rd event is on track to be one of the highest attended events at the Forum since they reopened in 2012 under Madison Square Garden management. Currently we’ve sold over 11,000 tickets.”
“Our focus has always been to price the tickets reasonably to allow as many fans as possible to experience the “Big Drama Show” and the response has been tremendous to see Gennady and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, the world’s two best pound-for-pound fighters on the same show once again.”
Said Nick Spampanato, SVP and GM of the Forum, “We are proud that the Forum is rapidly becoming the home for high profile boxing in Los Angeles, as this highly-anticipated bout between ‘GGG’ and Dominic Wade attests. And, we’re thrilled that more fans will get a chance to see that for themselves as additional $30 tickets are released tomorrow.”
Golovkin has trained in Big Bear Lake, California with trainer Abel Sanchez since June 2010 and now lives with his family in Los Angeles, making this a hometown fight for the entertainment capital’s newest star.
