Most athletes on a sports scholarship are pushed through college and often come out just as dumb as they went in. They're given passing grades just for showing up. Granted they earn the schools a lot of revenue but one could argue that there is still plenty of talent to build a football or basketball team among regular students.

But Dempsey brings up a good point, too many of these guys graduate college and haven't learned much.
Let's be real, it's a travesty that 78% of NFL players and 60% of NBA players go bankrupt within 5 years after leaving the league they were making millions in.
Had they been taught basic Math and Economics, and simple budgeting in those major universities, that number would be a hell of alot lower.

There should be minor leagues for primarily athletes after HS to be drafted into or colleges need to start paying guys who are generating billions of dollars, in some cases, with more than an education.
Theres ~17,000 div 1 football players. They get an average scholarship of $14,270 per year. Assuming every player got a scholarship, which isn't the case, that's $242M athletes are getting. And division 1 football brings in ~2 or ~3 billion in revenue a year. You can debate how off that is cuz there are other expenses but I don't see how there is any argument it's off that athletes only make 8% to 12% of the revenue, in non-cash form at that. Dana White would even feel sh^tty about fleecing his fighters THAT bad.

Black athletes should leave the top division 1 schools and go to HBCU's.
Howard, NC Central, NC A&T, etc. will all become top 10 power houses being flooded with capital.
These same schools will also become power houses in Football.
This is the best thing that could happen.
