Zastava USA Offers ZPAP M70 Underfolder as Serbia Ends Firearms Export Ban

The temporary ban on the export of firearms instituted this summer by the Serbian government has been lifted. ZASTAVA USA celebrated by introducing its new ZPAP M70 AK47 UNDERFOLDER into the U.S. market. CLASSIC FIREARMS put it out for sale earlier this week and ATLANTIC FIREARMS offered it for the first time last night.

I broke open the piggy bank yesterday and ordered mine from ATLANTIC FIREARMS with whom I do most all of my AK business. In my opinion, the best AK's out there today are the ZPAP's, especially after the ZASTAVA ARMS PLANT in Serbia started building them with chrome lined barrels a couple of years ago. These things are built like "tanks" and have a 1.5mm receiver with a bulged trunion for extra strength.

Judging by the two responses, it would appear that we don't have any gun enthusiasts who appreciate the gorgeous rifles that Zastava USA has imported from Serbia over the last four or five years. After the scare that occurred over the summer with the Serbian government "temporarily" banning all exports of firearms the arrival of these underfolders brought a welcome sigh of relief. "Temporary" can become "permanent," especially in the firearms markets.

Hopefully, a gun enthusiast or two spotted this thread and appreciates being informed about the arrival of these ZPAP underfolders.

OP, help me out here. Why do they still make these old as schit looking AKs? I wouldn't want a new product today that looked like it was machined in the 30's

The AK-47 is a classic platform that is collected and fired by a large number of gun enthusiasts. "AK-47" stands for "Avtomat Kalashnikova-1947"/"Автомат Калашникова-1947г" (The Machine Gun of Kalashnikov-1947). There are a few million gun owners in the States who do NOT consider the AK-47 a "s hit looking" rifle. I'm in that number. However, to each his own. It's very subjective.

The AR-15 is by far the most popular sporting rifle in the U.S. with around 20 million+ in private hands. Personally, I find them to lack the aesthetic appeal of an AK. Also, they are a pain in the a ss to field strip compared to the simplicity of an AK.

I suspect a big appeal to AR owners is the ability to "pimp out" these rifles. AR owners have myriad add-ons they can purchase in the aftermarket and attach to their rifles. For the most part, AK owners like me do not add anything except for, maybe, a "red dot" sight to assist in aiming. A pimped out AK-47 is sacrilege!

I wish I did! However, I do own six rifles that I purchased from them over the last few years and highly recommend their company if you are in the market for a firearm.
