I really hated to see that happen. I feel sorry for her. She's under an immense amount of pressure and she sure didn't do this on purpose. I don't think she should be lavished with praise for it, but I think people should be understanding. She cracked under the pressure. Pressure that none of us here could even comprehend. She does not deserve to be vilified. Her race? Has nothing at all to do with this and shouldn't even be mentioned as a factor. Personally, I wish her the best of success. She's dedicated her life to this. Soon she will have a new chapter. Remember her for her wins, not her defeats. She has been a great champion at a level that only lasts for a short time in anyone's life.

Who the **** said anything about her race ever? You're talking about morons on this forum aren't you? Never ever read anything on this forum and take it seriously. Sorry Mods... that's how this forum is perceived.

You said lavished with praise? Who the hell would do that? Her actions should NOT be applauded. I've always thought she was incredible. She quit bro. She didn't "have to deal with mental issues"... she dealt with what every other human being deals with "mentally"... She should not be applauded for this. She doesn't get damned for eternity, no... But it's no different than a prize fighter quitting and trying to disguise it by getting up after the ref counts 10.

The issue with most people on this forum or most people in general is when they ridicule someone like Biles, they themselves could never win anything at all, much less compete at an athletic event... So it's hard to listen to morons being armchair quarterbacks when they've never done anything.

Gymnastics is a young girls game. As crazy as it sounds, over 22 was generally considered past prime for female gymnasts and she is 24.

I get the impression she was disappointed with a Silver Medal, especially after she recently posted a photo of herself claiming to be the GOAT. There is a combination of nerves, ego, and falling short of expectations that I think led to her dropping out. If she enters the individual competition to attempt another Gold Medal, it will be very telling, and inexcusable.

Honestly it's not her that's disappointing so much as the chorus of media drones applauding and reciting "STUNNING AND BRAVE" over and over. There's a difference between being understanding and actively lionising and celebrating something that's objectively a sign of weakness and mediocrity. Everyone who competed in the competition has bad days, is just as vulnerable to mental health issues, yet to my knowledge nobody else competing in female gymnastics, from any country, quit after one bad event, everyone stayed and did their best because that's the baseline of what's expected from Olympic athletes.

Also, let's face it, she's only getting this treatment from the press because she's not *just* an athlete, she's one of the symbols of "black excellence" as designated by the powers that be and therefore must never be criticised, ever, and must be constantly showered with praise no matter what. If it were a white athlete who bailed out with the same excuse the praise wouldn't be nearly as enthusiastic, and in fact you'd probably see more than one editorial from bugman journalists along the lines of "What [x] athlete's withdrawal shows us about white fragility and entitlement - and how it's holding America back in sports."
