Question: Mike Tyson's ability to finish and clinching

LONG, but I underlined things that can minimize the read for someone who has no time.

Hi! I come from a football background being a lineman in the center of the second string. I go to a Mexican gym in Cali and I'm a heavyweight pressure fighter looking for some advice to work drills mostly on my own. I love Mike Tyson and incorporated some of his techniques into my style and set ups. Like his step jab to the body then right hook to the body then left hook to the head with a roll under. I'm more of a heavyweight Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. with dem foot and head fakes tho...

Due to my style, I usually get people on the ropes and in the corner and I commonly hear people talking about his ability to finish people covering and look for openings. My favorite is his slip, left hook to the body, then left uppercut to the head. It opens people up, but I want to be able to use combinations that match the openings I see rather than being a one combo wonder and waste energy throwing random punches in bunches hoping for my opponent to give up. Any set ups for giving someone a standing 8 or a KO in my finishers if I'm lucky? Furthermore, I'd like to address clinching because I'm facing mofos bigger than me (Super Heavyweight can be as heavy as they want ) and their weight dropping on me saps my energy VERY quickly. Any tips, techniques, and or secrets?

I'm usually on the go trying to balance a 4.0 college GPA in my major for psychology (gotta understand how to use dem feints and break my rhythm to screw up the human pattern recognition bro), a clingy white girlfriend (thank god I'm not *****whipped), boxing, and a job at IHOP so I literally almost live off GNC products because of the lack of quality control in foods from dem fast food joints and coffee shops due to my lifestyle. I do find time to do my drills during my study breaks and free time. Any way to drill these with a partner and more especially on my own?

There's a lot of clinch material on YouTube that you might find useful.

In my opinion... you can grab certain techniques from fighters you look up to, but your style overall should still be very much your own.

I notice alot of your favorite techniques are left hook centric. Well why not set up the hook with a straight right? A straight right to the body or head is an excellent setup for the left hook. Especially a straiggt right to yhe body. Setting up your shot low to go high gives you that same frasier/tyson esque level cganging to generate power in your left hook. Also.. you can go to the liver with your left hook instead of being primarily a head hunter with the left hook. One thing I find valuable up close is turning the right hook over.. then coming back from the other side with a left hook or uppercut.

Really... you primarily want to be landing your hook or perhaps uppercut.. those are your favorite punches. So...your setups can reflect an eventual goal of that. However you can reach that point in different ways. A 1,2,3... a 2 *low*, 3.. a 2 *high* 3, a 4, 3.. a 6,3.. and so on.. also you want to have lead hooks in your arsenal. If you are a hook artist then let all your setups reflect that. I do think a decent right hand thrown in will keep them on their toes.

As to bigger guys..the advantage you have over them is you are *assumably* faster and more mobile. Avoid getting wrapped up... if they walk in on you to lean on you come right up the middle with an uppercut or jab..and slip and step away. Rinse and repeat.

You can even parry their arm in the air on one side and come in with a rollover overhand right. Them stepping in is an opportunity for you to get the ko! Because many fighters let down their guard when the clinch is imminent
