Ok, I need advice! Recommend me something...

    Here's the story...

My family has a history of arthritis, not everyone has gotten it but I heard a couple of my family members got it. What do you guys think I should take?

My knees have really been bothering me lately, I was thinking maybe I have bad knees from all the reckless crap I've done throughout the years. Maybe it's finally caught up to me.

I sparred for 6 rounds today, I was supposed to do 10 and maybe go for the full 12 but the pain was pretty bad, I felt like my knees were gonna give out on me. I couldn't move much and I was pretty much Gatti'd by a guy I have no business getting beat by...

I'm a counter puncher and my movement/foot work has always been good up until today. I hope I'm not gonna need knee surgery! Hopefully I can take some kind of joint supplements or vitamins...what do you guys suggest? I'm scared of going to a specialist in fear of needing surgery.

First off if your not preping for a 10 round fight why in the hell are you sparring all thoughs rounds?? I've trained main go and championship fighters and rarely has anyone boxed 10 rounds! If your a gym rat helping kids get rounds in thats fine but if you can't spar 6 rounds hard and finish with that or move on to something else in the gym for continued conditioning someone is taking advantage of you!
If your just entering training camp off a long lay off and want to go and easy 5 then a good paced 3 then another easy 3 thats one thing but 10 rounds of "open spar work" on a regular basis isn't done!
I'll suggest 4to5 shadow out, then 2 rounds on the heavy bag at a decent pace with good power! Then 1 round to shadow and 4 rounds of spar (whatever the pace maybe) then 3 on the bag HARD! Finish with one round of non stop 1/2 (left/right) from the top of the bag to bending your knees and dropping low! Then 3 hours of duck walks.................just kidding

Elivate your legs while resting and/or sleeping! Pillows behind your tibia (calfs) and increase fkuids such as white and green tea's! Use gator aide type fluids too and possibly increase your iron intake! Rest is as important as foods and fluids and in many training regimes its THE most important! Think about training seesion time where the knees are not used. Extend your time on the ring aproon working off the aproon with a variety of exercises! Ray

Glucosamine, flaxseed oil and fish oil

*as far as fish oil/omega 3, I wouldn't recommend taking a pill or liquid form of the oil. You don't want to see the fish that get used for such purposes (bottom of the barrel).

Instead, I'd actually recommend incorporating salmon into your diet, maybe 2-3 times a week. Very very healthy, but you dont want to much. 2x a week is good.
